Australia vs Ireland
Australia kicked off their campaign with a commanding chase after restricting Ireland to 235/7. Steven Hogan led the charge with a superb 115 from 111 balls, sharing a decisive 186-run stand for the second wicket with opener Nitesh Samuel, who contributed 77.
Ireland had earlier built their total on the back of Robert O'Brien’s 79 and Freddie Ogilby’s 49. Australia skipper Oliver Peake rotated his bowlers smartly, with five of them among the wickets; medium-pacer Charles Lachmund finished with three. The reply was clinical, and Peake later joined Samuel to complete the chase comfortably inside 40 overs.
Afghanistan vs South Africa
Afghanistan produced one of the standout results of the tournament, toppling South Africa in Windhoek. Batting first, Afghanistan posted a competitive 266/8, built around fluent knocks from Khalid Ahmadzai (74), Faisal Shinozada (81) and Uzairullah Niazai (51).
South Africa mounted a challenge through Jason Rowles, who struck a valiant 98, but lacked support at the other end. They were eventually dismissed for 238 in the 48th over, handing Afghanistan a 28-run win. Medium-pacers Abdul Aziz and Khatir Stanikzai picked up two wickets apiece.
Pakistan vs England
In Harare, England successfully defended a modest 210 against Pakistan. England’s innings was anchored by Caleb Falconer (66 off 73), who added an 80-run partnership with Ralphie Albert.
With the ball, England’s attack shared the spoils as Alex Green, James Minto and Albert claimed two wickets each. Pakistan skipper Farhan Yousaf fought hard with a 65, but lacked support as Pakistan were bowled out for 173 in the 47th over.
